The Surat textile Industry is going through its toughest, most trying phase. The stiff competition has meant that the processing rates have continued to drop in-spite of increasing costs. The energy, water & environment protection costs have especially spiraled up exponentially as seen in the graph 1 below. These costs are further expected to rise in the coming years. Besides the feared onslaught of free imports, thanks to the WTO agreement, will mean that prices will slashed even further. |
